寂静

There is the sudden silence of the crowd，

　　有一种寂静突然出现在人群中，

　　above a player not moving on the field，

　　当运动员在赛场上蓄势待发的瞬间，

　　and the silence of the orchid.

　　仿佛兰花开放时的无声无息。

　　The silence of the falling vase，

　　有一种寂静来自跌落的花瓶，

　　before it strikes the floor，

　　在它撞击地面的刹那，

　　the silence of the belt when it is not striking the child.

　　如同皮带抽打孩子前的时空凝固。

　　The stillness of the cup and the water in it，

　　杯子和杯中的水都是静默的，

　　the silence of the moon，

　　月亮也是静默的，

　　and the quiet of the day far from the roar of the sun.

　　还有斜阳西下时黄昏的静谧。

　　The silence when I hold you to my chest，

　　我静静地拥你入怀，

　　the silence of the window above us，

　　头顶的窗户静静地看着我们，

　　and the silence when you rise and turn away.

　　你无声地站起来，转身离去。

　　And there is the silence of this morning，

　　今天早晨本是寂静的，

　　which I have broken with my pen，

　　我却用笔把它打破了，

　　a silence that had piled up all night.

　　那是积压了整整一夜的寂静。

　　like snow falling in the darkness of the house—

　　我落笔之前的寂静，

　　the silence before I wrote a word，

　　像雪花悄然飘落进黑暗的屋子，

　　and the poorer silence now.

　　而现在是更加难挨的寂静。
